Webinar via Zoom

Even before the events of the last few months, there was little doubt that this year’s election cycle would be considered pivotal by voters across the political spectrum. From now until November, important decisions will be made at the ballot box in every corner of our nation. Primary elections, gubernational races, local ballot initiatives, and a historic Presidential election will all be decided in a matter of months, shaping the future of our communities and our country for years to come.

Join American Public Square at Jewell’s Student Initiative for our two-part series, Coffee and Politics: Voting With Purpose in 2020! We will convene elected officials from both sides of the aisle in Missouri and Kansas to discuss the most important issues most important to young voters, new voters, and all those wishing to express their civic duty in 2020. APS’s Student Initiative programming is organized and moderated by university students. Coffee and Politics will have a particular focus on issues pertaining to young people in Missouri and Kansas, ensuring that young people are given an opportunity to become educated on the subjects they care about.

Part 2 – Kansas

Most will circle November 3rd on their calendar this year – and for good reason. This year’s Presidential election is set to be the most consequential in recent memory. Policies implemented by the current or any new administration will determine the future of crucial issues such as climate change, health care, and civil rights. It has never been more important for Americans to be informed on the candidates and issues – both national and local ¬– appearing on the ballot this fall. Join American Public Square at Jewell’s Student Initiative and William Jewell College’s Cardinal Union as we invite Kansas’s statewide elected officials to speak on the issues most important to young voters! Providing a viewpoint from both sides of the aisle, we seek to create an informative discussion for those who intend to vote with purpose in 2020.

Cardinal Union is a student organization on William Jewell’s campus that aims to facilitate productive civil and political discourse among members of the student body through debates, educational events, and other interactions with the campus community.
